Weekend Recap:
Friday night: Jesse and I wandered around Office Depot for what felt like hours trying to fulfill the odd requests on his school supply list. We pulled it off with only a few substitutions. Then we went to Huey's and ate. And then we went to Target to buy a couple of new shirts and a can of Tennis Balls, which is one of the odder requests on the school supply list. The teachers cut the tennis balls open and slip them on the bottom of the chairs so they don't scratch the floor.

Saturday: Jesse and I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean, which I loved. It was a little too scary in some parts for Jess, but I think he liked it too. We hit Ben & Jerry's after the movie. When we got home Jesse wanted to watch another movie, so I introduced him to the cinematic genius that is Weird Al Yankovitch, putting "UHF" in the DVD player. Jesse thought it was hilarious. A friend who lives in Minnesota was in town, so Jesse and I went to visit Angie and her sons for a few hours that night.

Sunday: Another movie day. I had to promise to let Jesse pick a movie for Sunday if he would be my date to Pirates on Saturday. So we went to see Monster House, which I hated. That movie just struck me wrong I guess. It was sad and disturbing. Of course, we had to go for ice cream afterwards. When we got home, I decided to go ahead and cook up the tomatoes that Angie's dad had given me from his garden. So there's a nice homemade marinara sauce waiting for me in the freezer next time I cook pasta.

Monday morning: Jesse had an orthodontist appointment that took up most of the morning. They removed the midieval torture device that he's had on his upper teeth since October (a rapid palate exapander). Funny side note: He was nervous that removing it would hurt, but you couldn't tell that he was scared. On the way there, he was humming the theme from Star Wars, but doing it the way that Pee Wee Herman would do it, which was was cracking me up. He is an amusing kid.

Noticeably absent from this recap: SkooterPie. I promise he's OK. He was out on the town Friday night attending art openings. And he spent Saturday and Sunday working on his studio. Today is his first day at his new school, so he left early this morning. Summer break is definitely over.

I saw Talladega Nights this weekend and it was hilarious. Definitely stupid, but so darn funny in its stupidness.
