Weekend recap:
Saw Borat. It was, as expected, pretty damn funny. It's not for the easily offended. Or for anyone not in on the joke. And there's one scene that I wish I could erase from my brain. Where are those brain erasers when you need them?
Saturday I hung around the house psyching myself up for the big trivia tournament. Which we lost. We were in 14th place going in to the final bonus question and had we gotten it right, we would have finished third.
Sunday I asked Jesse what he wanted to do for the day, and he wanted to see the movie "Flushed Away." So we caught that at noon, and it was really, really good. I did not go see the football game. I just couldn't bear it. What a sucky season for the Tigers. I know we lost DeAngelo and some key seniors last year. But it looks like our entire team was replaced this season. Have these guys ever actually PLAYED football before?
I voted this morning before coming in to work, and I was relieved that the ballot was much shorter than the one I struggled to complete in August. I cast a big fat NO vote on Amendment 1 because enshrining discrimination in the constitution is wrong wrong wrong.

so far, with my vote and your vote there are 2 no votes on amendment 1. a good start i would say. have a great day!
Maybe Memphis should have played bama this year they can't seem to beat to many teams.Yeah I am empowered I voted.hope I didn't lose to many votes. What am I saying a vote cast is never lost!
hmmm, so we apparently we were the only people who voted no on 1. 80% to 20%. that is pretty hard to believe
I actually predicted that yesterday during a discussion with a friend who is a new citizen and voted for the first time yesterday. "I really hope Amendment 1 doesn't pass," she said. "Oh, it will pass. It'll pass by 80%." Her eyes got big. "Really? You think?" And I was right.
I don't know if TN's Amendment 1 is the same as SC's Amendment 1, but suspect it has something to do with defining a marriage between two people as only being a man and woman...
My lovely friends in the great state of South Carolina are of the same mind-set.
Doesn't everyone know that being gay is a choice? Like whether to wear matching socks... it's nothing more than a simple decision that is made every single day.
Today, I choose to be straight... and, fortunately, my socks match!
Now, we just need to figure out how to keep women and minorities away from the voting booths.
Yeah, my marriage is much more stable today than it was yesterday before all those gays were threatening to destroy it. It's such a victory for all the good people of Tennessee that committed couples with children are banned from getting married.
