I don't really care about the Super Bowl, and when I figured out that the Today show would show us the best commercials of the night the next morning, I stopped even bothering to watch it for the ads. Slate has a regular contributor who writes an ad report card, and his take on the Super Bowl ads is pretty funny.
An excerpt: "A Dove ad shows us little girls who have body-image problems: Women, do not be duped! Dove is not selflessly interested in your (or your daughters') well-being. It is a multinational beauty-products company, which hopes to sell expensive cellulite cream to these same little girls just a few years down the road."
Amen.

Personally, I loved the promotion ABC did for "Lost" with poor, dead Robert Palmer singing "I'm addicted to Lost." I mean, it made me a little sad seeing Robert Palmer being digitally forced to posthumously use his most memorable hit to market a TV show. But I figure that when you're famous, you sort of ask for this sort of thing to happen.

Robert Palmer is Dead?!?! Oh well, we should be thankful they haven't used that same technology on Dave Thomas (from Wendy's) or Colonel Sanders. Was he really a Colonel?

I think you know who it is..I am busy checking my junk e-mails.

He died about two and a half years ago. I think his death must have fallen through the cracks because it happened about two weeks after John Ritter and Johnny Cash died (on 9/11/03 and 9/12/03, respectively). I noticed, of course, because I was such a Duranie in the '80s and a big fan of Powerstation. Although I missed the show they played in Nashville and went to see a Rick Springfield concert instead. Why!?! WHY!!!!???!!!!
Anyway here's the CNN story.

Man, I'm glad I'm not the only Myriad Pro Semibold-reader who didn't know about Robert Plant.
