Jesse has finally started showing an interest in riding a bike. Even when he had a bike with training wheels, he had a preference for his scooter. His GrandMary bought him a new bike as a sort of late birthday present at Easter, but he's barely touched it. All the kids on our street (except for Alice, who's one of the youngest) ride bikes. And I knew it would start to get to him eventually. But you can't push Jesse to do anything. He has to do it on his own time. And Wednesday night, totally out of the blue, he told me he wanted to practice on his bike. So he took it to the sidewalk in front of the house and started riding. He practiced last night too, and he's getting better. I have one rule. He HAS to wear his helmet. None of the other kids wear helmets, and I don't care. My kid is wearing a helmet. I told him that if I ever saw him riding without his helmet, I would take the bike away from him for a week.

Now I need a bike so we can go riding together.

I told my boss that I would be coming in to work very tired next Friday. Justin Timberlake is previewing his new album for Good Morning America live from Beale Street at 6 a.m. I so totally want to be there.

What's on tap for this weekend? We don't have anything planned tonight, I don't think. Art openings maybe? I have to do some work at some point this weekend. There's no way around it. The International Goat Days festival is happening in Millington this weekend, and I think that has potential for hilarity (they have goat chariot racing). Jesse and I are going to the football game Saturday night. It's the first home game. I may go see a play (The Full Monty) with a friend on Sunday. That's a pretty full weekend. Now that I see it all laid out like that it just makes me feel tired and broke. But how could I not enjoy a weekend that includes art, goats, football and partially nude men? Fun times.
