Jesse told me last night on the way home that he had broken up with Maya, his girlfriend from first grade. I pressed him for more information, but he didn't want to talk about it. Later though he told me that he thinks Jacie is his new girlfriend because she's beautiful and silly. She's also, of course, a brunette. Every little girl he has liked, and some big ones, has been a brunette. At bedtime, he asked me if we could e-mail Jacie and ask her to be his girlfriend. I told him it would be fine if he talked to her about it at school. I also told him that he doesn't have to have a girlfriend, but that went nowhere.

I have to send out a big birthday wish to my dear friend Cissie, who has been with me through thick and thin since fourth grade. More than any other friend, I have asked myself this question while hanging out with Cis: "How the hell did I get myself into THIS situation?" But we always had a blast, and it was always because she was leading the way. Love ya, Cis.
