Jesse had to write sentences using eight of his spelling words last night for homework. Which led to this conversation:
“Mom, how do you spell ‘there’?”
“Well, which one? There are three.”
“Three? I thought there were two.”
“There’s THERE, T-H-E-R--E, like ‘Go over there,’ and THEIR possessive, T-H-E-I-R, like ‘It’s their turn’ and then there’s the contraction for-”
“Mom, what about like ‘There is no hope.’”
“That’s T-H-E-R-E … Wait, ‘There is no hope’ is one of your sentences?”
He nods his head yes. I walk over to him and pat him on the head.

One of his other sentences was “I have a toe.”
