Tiny moment in a weekend that I will soon forget if I don’t write it down:
In the middle of dinner, at a table of seven, Jesse sweetly started playing with my hair, and I thought about how grateful I am that he’s not yet old enough to be embarrassed about showing me affection in front of other people.
Fortune from a recent fortune cookie: Your intense personality can make quite an impression on people. My reaction upon reading it: Hey! I don’t think that was meant to be a compliment.
Favorite line from the movie “Hoodwinked,” which Jesse and I saw on Sunday: “Never trust a bunny with directions.” I enjoyed that movie, especially when I caught on to the “Fletch” shout-out in the wolf character. Least favorite scene: The roller coaster sequence. It actually made me queasy.
Other movie I saw this weekend: “Crash.” The lecture I went to at Rhodes College Saturday morning showed four brief scenes from the movie as a springboard for discussing modern day race relations. I had to rent the movie that afternoon. Very good film.
Currently reading: “The Plot Against America,” by Philip Roth. It was really intriguing at the beginning, but it’s kind of fizzling out for me now that I’m halfway through it. I don’t know why I’m losing interest in it.
