A family conversation

"Hey, Jesse. Do you want to see the nasty bruise on my leg?"
I show him the bruise on my thigh I received in the process of being dragged around by a dog last weekend. It's now in that phase of healing where it looks much worse than it feels, all purple and green and yellow and red.
"Ew, mom. That's disgusting. Why did you show me that?"
"Because you're a boy, and I thought you'd appreciate it. Boys like stuff like that."
"No we don't."
SkooterPie hollers from another part of the house: "I wanna see it!"
"I bet dad would even offer to kiss it for me."
SkooterPie affirms this: "Yep!"
"Ew!" Jesse says.
"I think your dad just wants an excuse to kiss on me."
"Yeah, Dad would kiss anything. If you were having surgery, he'd even kiss your insides."
"That's true love. You'll know you really love a girl when you offer to kiss her nasty bruises."
"That is sick and wrong," Jesse says.

The Tigers' second home game is this weekend, and we're taking on the Vols. 10 years ago, the Tigers stunned everyone by beating the Vols in Memphis. The fans tore down the goalposts. It was pandemonium all over Memphis. I was in McMinnville during that game, watching it on TV and jumping around my living room. This year, I'll be in the stadium. We've played close games against the Vols in recent years. I'm hopeful we'll win Saturday, but not optimistic. I'm definitely excited about the game. Gooooo Tigers!
