So the Tigers can say they've beaten UT this season. Unfortunately, they'd be speaking of UT-Chattanooga. And even more unfortunately, it's the only game we've won this year.

But most unfortunate of all was the beating that the Vols gave to Memphis last weekend. And I stayed for every last second of it, taking my medicine like a true fan, even as the stadium became more and more orange in the last quarter. We still have the better fight song.

Other happenings this past weekend: We went to the fair Friday night. Finally we found the ultimate in good fair food: Uncle Lou's Chicken. The three of us split two orders of honey dipped chicken tenders and some fries. It was soooooo yummy. Jesse and SkooterPie rode a bunch of rides, and I held stuff while they rode rides. Damn the fair is expensive. By the time we paid to park, paid for admission, bought dinner, bought ride tickets and a couple of other things, Skooterpie had spent $100. I had promised Jesse that we would buy him a trinket of some kind before we left, and he ended up choosing a glow in the dark glove thing. It was $5. On the way out Jesse informed us that the skating rink sells the exact same thing. "But they're only a dollar at the skating rink," he cheerily told us. Yeah.

SkooterPie and I went to an engagement party for an old college friend of Skooter's. It was a really nice party, and we stayed way longer than I thought we would because we were having fun talking to people. We were home by 10:30, paid the babysitter, and then Skooter left to go to another engagement party. I told him to have fun and not to call me from 201 (code word in Memphis for the jail, which is located at 201 Poplar). He told me not to worry about that; I'd be getting a phone call from the Med (the downtown hospital) first, because he'd make sure to get himself shot by the police before he'd be taken to 201, which isn't such a bad plan.

Sunday I took Jesse to Party City to buy his Halloween costume, and for the second year in a row the one he really wanted, a zombie, was only available in a large. He settled for the crypt keeper costume, which is still pretty cool. He's happy with it, which is all that matters.
